CERTIFICATE II & III

Certificate II in Creative Industries (Media) (CUF20107)
Certificate III in Media (CUF30107)  

There are two options for studying Certificate level courses:

1. The Certificate II in Creative Industries (Media) is delivered to students in Years 11 or 12.

2. The Certificate III in Media (only) is delivered at IFC and is open to anyone 16 years old or above.  Mature age applicants are welcome to apply.

OPTION 1 - Secondary School Delivery of the Certificate II in Creative Industries (Media) 

The Certificate II course is one year in duration (part time) and is available to secondary school students in Years 11 & 12 only. The courses are run in conjunction with the school and minimum class numbers are required. 

The Certificate II in Creative Industries (Media) is delivered to students in Years 11 or 12. This can be followed by the Certificate III in Media at IFC. Both courses are very hands-on, designed to give students practical experience with a variety of film and television equipment, techniques and genres. The following subjects are covered during the full, two course 18 month program:

Introduction to Digital Video Production

Introduction to Scriptwriting

Introduction to Sound Recording

Introduction to Editing

Introduction to Lighting

Introduction to Post Sound

Film Production

The introductory Certificate II course develops the student’s understanding of the film and television industry, crew roles and basic production equipment.  Students participate in the production of a television drama and television commercial.  The more complex Certificate III course conducted at IFC expands on previous knowledge and begins to refine production skills, including script development and post sound techniques.  The Certificate III course concludes with the production of a short film shot on High Definition video.  

Classes for the Certificate II are usually conducted once a week for the entire school calendar year, with each class averaging somewhere between 2 and 3 hours in duration.  

OPTION 2 - IFC Campus Delivery   

The Certificate III in Media is 6 months in duration and is available to anyone 16 years old or above.  The course is conducted at the International Film College Campus in Molendinar two evenings a week (Monday and Thursday), between 4.00pm and 7.00pm. (The Certificate II is not required as a prerequisite for the Certificate III).  The course includes all the subjects listed above in Option 1.
